For this New Years 2020, if you don’t go to Vienna, then Vienna will come to you, thanks to this concert in the purest tradition of the imperial and musical capital!  In place of honour, of course, we will find Johann Strauss and his art of the twirling, pulsating waltz and the captivating polka with its more rustic fragrances. It is not only in his dances that Strauss the son was able to capture that essence so particular to his city and its inhabitants, full of both lightness and gravity, but also in his two most famous operettas, Die Fledermausand Der Zigeunerbaron, whose overtures will be performed by the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra. But what would Vienna be without the rich Hungarian and Gypsy heritage that irrigates its popular as well as its serious music? With the young violinist, Nathan Mierdl, who studied in Dijon, classic violin showpieces such as Sarasate’s Airs Bohemiensand the more unexpected Tziganeby Ravel will revive the festive and mittel-European flame.
